Tears from the Reindeer Enclosure

Sampo, a native of Lapland, has cared for these charming creatures his entire adult life. He first got acquainted with reindeer herding and reindeer farm tourism as a young man at his friend's family’s reindeer farm. That’s when the spark for entrepreneurship with animals was ignited, and he ended up becoming a reindeer farmer himself. 

The harsh natural environment and the demanding weather conditions of Lapland are quite challenging. Especially for equipment and clothing, comfort and readiness are needed year-round. "You always need good, comfortable gear when you're working," Sampo notes with a couple of decades of experience. However, in the outdoor physical work, clothes take a beating daily, and accidents are bound to happen. 

When a female reindeer nudges Sampo from behind during a sorting or when a nail sticking out of the reindeer enclosure’s fence catches his trouser leg, even the most durable clothing tears. Tears need to be patched up, holes need to be plugged, and clothes need to be made usable quickly so that the work can continue. If Sampo finds himself in the middle of the wilderness, no help for repairs is available.

In the past, when clothing tore, Sampo had to halt his work in the wilderness, wasting valuable time.
